This was Khaled Hosseini's first novel. I didn't like it quite as much as his second novel, but it is still a great read, and I'd still highly recommend it. This novel really brings the people, the culture and the beauty of Afghanistan to life. I have a much better appreciation for that part of the world after reading this novel.
