Friday Link Love 6/20

Jun 20 2008

Once again it’s Friday! I apologize for my decrease in posts this week. It has been one of those weeks where everything seems to be working against me and I can just never get enough done. Nevertheless, my goal is to always write quality posts that you find interesting, can learn from and that you enjoy reading. I try not to post just for the sake of posting something (although I am guilty of this from time to time).

With that said, I don’t know about any of you, but I’m ready for the weekend. This week has really dragged by and I’m looking forward to a little R&R. The only bad part about this weekend is that it will come to an end – my weekends end at 10pm Sunday night when I have to go to bed so I can go to work Monday in a semi-conscious state. Oh well, nothing in life is perfect.

Have a happy and safe weekend!

Friday Link Love 6/13

Jun 13 2008

Do you suffer from paraskavedekatriaphobia?

Today is not just Friday, it is Friday the 13th! I have never been a superstitious person, so having a Friday that happened to land on the 13th of the month never really bothered me. Nevertheless, I’m usually more interested in the historical context of these kinds of things than anything else. I found this cool article on Wikipedia that gives a brief history of the day and why people fear it.

For me Friday is Friday (and it’s always good). So I present you this week’s installment of Friday Link Love. Please have a happy and safe weekend!

Thoughts on using index cards
Index cards can be an invaluable tool for writers. Here’s a brief post that gives some very practical tips for using index cards for your next writing project.

Friday Link Love 6/6

Jun 06 2008

After my little hiatus last Friday, your favorite Brad’s Reader feature is back! I have been hard at work this week scouring the internet for interesting blog posts for you to read. I try to keep these links on the topic of literature/writing, but as you will find out, sometimes it doesn’t always work out that way.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read my blog. Have a happy and safe weekend!

Small press spotlight: Praise the chapbook
The chapbook is perhaps one of the earliest forms of self-publishing, and they still thrive today. Here’s an interesting post about chapbooks and a few of the more popular chapbook titles.

Friday Link Love 5/23

May 23 2008

Perhaps this Friday is a little better than most. Why? Because if you live here in the U.S. then you know that this is Memorial Day Weekend (translation: 3-day weekend!). This weekend is also the unofficial start of summer – one of my favorite seasons.

If this is your first time visiting a Friday Link Love post, then welcome. I try to link to interesting blog posts and other stuff I read throughout the previous week. Most of the links have something to do with writing and/or literature, but I also try to mix it up with politics, science and other cool stuff.

Thank you for reading my little spot on the internet and I hope you enjoy this week’s installment. Please have a happy and very safe weekend!

Friday Link Love 5/16

May 16 2008

What are you planning on doing this weekend? My plans – as little as possible. By the time weekends roll around I’m so worn out and beat up from the week that I want to do little more than lay on the couch like a zombie and maybe get some reading/writing done. And that’s on a productive weekend. Oh yeah, and I will also watch a lot of television (I know, a guilty pleasure).

Well, this week’s Friday Link Love is here and on time! Have a safe and happy weekend!

Friday Link Love 5/9 (Better Late than Never)

May 09 2008

Okay, I know my Friday Link Love post is late. I apologize for that. On Thursday night, when I actually write the post and get all the links together, I was so tired I just couldn’t do it. I went tot bed instead. But as the title says: Better late than never!

Have a safe and happy weekend!

Friday Link Love 5/2

May 02 2008

First, I must apologize that I don’t have as many links for you today. I have been rather busy this week and didn’t get a chance to go link hunting like I normally do. However, here are some excellent links for your reading enjoyment!

Second, thank you everyone who posted a comment during the month of April. I will be choosing a random comment very soon (within the next few days) and the winner will receive a $30 Amazon gift card. I love doing stuff like this and plan on more giveaways in the near future (hint, hint). While the April comment contest is officially closed, please continue to comment as much as you like! I love reading what you have to say.

Finally, it’s Friday! I don’t think much more than that needs to be said. Have a safe and happy weekend!

Friday Link Love 4/25

Apr 25 2008

I have been aware, for some time now, that a lot of my links for "Friday Link Love" come from the same lists of blogs I read every day. This doesn’t mean that those posts aren’t interesting and don’t deserve to be featured here, quite the opposite actually. However, I want to expand my link love list to include other blogs that I have never read before, but enjoyed a particular post.

Thus, you will start to see different posts from many different blogs creep into my Friday Link Love feature! I try to stick with stuff written during the week (so it’s current) and mostly stuff about literature and writing (because that’s what this blog is about). But I’ll also mix things up with science, politics and maybe even some philosophy.

Now that it’s Friday and we can all relax, sit back and enjoy some good reading. I stayed awake for 3 days straight to bring you the best on the web. Have a happy and safe weekend!

Friday Link Love 4/18

Apr 18 2008

Don’t you just love Fridays? You have two full days of freedom ahead of you and the world is full of possibilities! Hopefully the weather where you live is going to be nice this weekend so you can get outside and enjoy the fresh air.

Driving home from work these last couple of days has been great because the weather has finally warmed up in the Midwest. I can finally open up the sun roof and roll down my windows and let the warm breeze blow through my thinning hair. And best of all, it’s still daylight when I get home!

Have a happy and safe weekend!

Friday Link Love 4/11

Apr 11 2008

This last week has gone by so fast that I feel like I barely blinked an eye. Cliches aside, the week really did go by fast and I can only say that I’m happy Friday is here. I am a little nervous about Saturday, though, because I have a dentist appointment to get my teeth cleaned. It shouldn’t be a big deal, but I always end up with more pain than I bargain for, even during a simple cleaning.

Other than that my weekend will be filled with a lot of reading, writing, and taking naps! While you’re thinking about your own weekend plans, check out these links from the blogosphere. And as always, have a safe and happy weekend!
