3 Years of Brad’s Reader: Win a $30 Amazon Gift Card

Dec 02 2009

balloonsAs promised, today marks my Brad’s Reader 3 Birthday/Anniversary giveaway. The prize will be a $25 Amazon gift card. I’m keeping this really simple: To enter to win, all you have to do is leave a comment under this post. What are you going to comment about? Tell us what the best book you have read in 2009. That’s it. You need to give the title and author. If you want to explain why it has been your favorite book of 2009, you are more than welcome to do so.

I’ll leave the comments open on this post for 24 hours, after that, no more comments will be accepted. I will then pick a comment totally at random. This means I take the number of comments from first to last and use a top secret, highly complicated random number generator to pick a number. Once the number is chosen, the corresponding comment will be the winner.

The Fine Print

1. One comment per person please. I’ll be checking. Let’s keep this fair for everyone.

2. No prize substitutions.

3. Prize in USD (US dollars) only.

4. Comments not answering the question: “What is the best book you have read in 2009?” Will be disqualified.

5. No spam (that goes without saying).

6. The chosen winner is final and will be announced after winner has been notified.

7. Amazon gift card will be sent via email to winner.

8. Please use a valid email address! This is the only way I’ll be able to contact the winner.

9. If you have any questions regarding this contest, please do not leave a comment! Rather, use this contact form to send me your questions.

I hope this is fairly straightforward. I did a contest like this in the past and it was a success and I got really good feedback.

My 2009 Book Selection

Since I’m asking what was the best book you have read in 2009, I’ll start. For me, the book is The Terror: A Novel (aff link) by Dan Simmons. The book is a tale about two Royal Navy ships that get stuck in the ice of the arctic. The sailors must endure extreme cold temperatures, lack of food, scurvy and a mysterious creature on the ice killing sailors one by one. You can read a more detailed review I wrote of this novel here.

Alright, this post is open for comments! Good luck and thanks again for all your support over the past 3 years.

Comments for this post will close on Thursday December 3, 2009 at 3:30pm Central Standard Time.

  4. I’m tempted to go with the entire “Twilight” series because I seriously could not put those books down (I read all four in about a week!). However, I also adored Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Eat, Pray, Love,” so I’ll have to go with that ;)

Thanks Brad, and happy anniversary to your blog!

  8. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Read this book on a Saturday. Really quick read, but really drives a good point.

Also re-read Magician by Raymond E Feist earlier this year and still love it. I decided to read his entire series and been loving it the past 5 months.

    Happy Anniversary!!

  10. The best book I read this 2009 would be Uglies by Scott Westerfield. It’s not a new book, but I just heard about it this year. I was hooked from the beginning and it took me on a wonderful adventure! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! Thank you for the chance.

  13. American on Purpose by Craig Ferguson. His rags to riches, raging alcholic to sober, functional adult story is fascinating and heart-tugging, and hearing a naturalized citizen (I listened to the audiobook) detail everything he loves so much about the U.S. can’t help but rekindle some national pride.
