Unboxing pictures of a new Sony Pocket Edition Reader
Last night I bought the new Sony Reader Pocket Edition Reader (PRS-300) at my local Sony Style store. I’ve been wanting to upgrade my first generation PRS-500 for a while now, and for $199, the Pocket Edition seemed like the right price at the right time. I tried to hold off buying one as long as I could, but I lasted less than a month after the new ebook readers were released.
I always like looking at pictures of shiny new electronics being unboxed. Call it ‘gadget porn’. Maybe even ‘electronic porn’. But nothing beats opening the box of the latest and greatest gadget that will bring you years of joy. I mostly see this with Apple products and thought I’d give it a shot here.
My detailed review of the Pocket Edition should be posted by tomorrow night, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, enjoy these pictures.

Unopened box of a new Sony Reader Pocket Edition. Fresh out of the bag!

Box opens easily and the Reader is snug inside with a protective sheet over it.

Everything you get in the box: Shiny silver Reader, USB cable, protective case, warranty papers and instruction manual.

Comparison between the new PRS-300 and older PRS-500. Notice the contrast difference between the two. PRS-300 is has a much more crisp display with better contrast between letters and background color.
Yes I know the pictures could be brighter, better centered, blah blah blah. I’m a writer, not a photographer. Hopefully these pictures will at least get you excited about the new Pocket Edition. I played around with it a little last night and had some good first impressions.
Be sure to come back again soon as I’ll have my detailed review of the new Sony Pocket Edition Reader up as soon as possible.

The name is Reader, not eReader (which is an unrelated ebook format).
Oops! My bad. Thank you for pointing that out. A careless oversight on my part.
I’m still having a hard time deciding between this and the Kindle. Thanks for the review!
