Interesting links.
I'm guessing you have a fascination with science. The funniest one I read was the link about "chemical romance." Not trying to make a fuss, but hey what if the average layman has adopted and in many ways misused the term? This is the English language were talking about here! :-) I mean it's malleable and unrestrained. I think we can do well without being a bunch of grumpy old "Strunks." The last thing writer's need are more literary gatekeepers. Instead of only wanting to enforce precision our word choices we should also remember there intention.
Like the term chemical romance. It ensnares you because it's intense. It sizzles. It's stronger than will or reason...it's chemical. See the appeal now? I guess I'm one of those modern readers/ writers who finds joy in interestng word combinations. There's no need for elitism. I say that last statement in general not in any way to discredit the author of the blog post. In fact, I found it amusing. I was just offering my two cents.
