Brad’s Big Election Day Post!

Nov 04 2008

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last year, today is election day! Did you cast your vote yet? If not, make sure you get to your nearest voting center and vote! You will regret it if you don’t!

Less than one hour ago, I cast my own ballot. I won’t say who I voted for (hint: I live in the Chicago area). I was going to mark the moment by taking a picture of me placing my ballot into the box, but there were signs plastered all over the voting place forbidding any kind of photography. I didn’t want to cause any problems, so I had to settle for the cool stock image you see on the left.

My goal tonight is to keep this post updated with the election results – and I’m determined not to go to bed until I know who the next President of the United States is!!! Why? Because I can!

Seriously though, I know this isn’t a political blog and I have held my tongue a lot during this election cycle. But now that election day is here, and it’s a very historic election to say the least, I thought it’d be fun to devote this one post to the election.

I’ll try to update this page throughout the night, so keep refreshing this page to see the latest and greatest, and you might even see some of my snarky comments regarding the mainstream media’s election coverage.

UPDATE 1: 5:37PM CST
Still awaiting on election results! A few states are starting to tease us with some results (Indiana and Kentucky). But it’s still way too early for any definitive results! On a personal note, I am very optimistic that my favored candidate will when. Only time will tell…

UPDATE 2: 6:43PM CST
Almost an hour later and still not much news to report. McCain and Obama have split the first two states to start turning in results: McCain is projected to win Kentucky, while Obama is going to take Vermont. This places McCain slightly ahead with the electoral votes, but it’s still so early, the race is still up in the air.

I’ve been passing the last hour or so by watching Scrubs and keeping track of the election on my trusty laptop. Time to brew the first pot of coffee, because I have a feeling it’s going to be a long night!

UPDATE 3: 7:49PM CST
The last hour has seen some big gains for Obama! All the major networks are calling Pennsylvania in Obama’s favor!!! A big win for him! The current electoral vote tally is Obama: 102, McCain: 34.

I’m now watching Family Guy and tracking the election results on the internet. Stay tuned…

UPDATE 4: 9:59PM CST
I’m back! I’ve been watching the news (mostly CNN & MSNBC) and I’m watching as CNN has just projected THAT BARACK OBAMA IS THE NEXT PRESIDENT!!!
