This is something I’ve only recently discovered. For years I thought I had to be in this perfect state of focus, bright eyed and chipper and all that, and wow did that waste time. I’ve been forcing myself to write while tired and not only does it boost the self discipline and confidence, but it seems to work out creatively as well. Maybe the polishing phase requires alertness, but yeah, being a tad burnt out really works.

Thanks for your comment Tim! I forgot about falling asleep at the keyboard. That’s probably the time to shut it down and get some sleep.

So true Brad. As a freelance journalist, I find it’s either deadline or the fact that I can’t keep my eyes open that produce the inches needed to eat another day. Of course I’ve also fallen asleep on the keyboard a few times waking up to a 194 pages of “kkkkkkkk”
