I finally decided on an iPhone ebook app
Before I start, I want to apologize for my decreased posting frequency. My blog posting always slows a little during the summer months. Nevertheless I haven’t forgotten about you and I should be back to my old posting self shortly. Thank you for your patience!
With that said, I’m proud to say that I finally selected an ebook reader application for my iPhone! I thought that the ebook app would be the first thing I’d buy on July 11, but not so. There were a few ebook readers to chose from, but none of them really made me excited.
Originally, I was going to go with Bookshelf. Then I tried downloading the program onto my Mac and could never get it working. So I eventually gave up. The application itself does look promising, however, I just didn’t have the patience to fiddle around with a buggy program. I have read a lot of positive reviews about Bookshelf, so it is staying on my shortlist of ebook apps in the future.
After long hours of deliberation I finally decided to go with eReader, an app developed and released by Fictionwise. Why did I decide on this specific ebook reading application? Several factors went into my decision but here are the main ones:
1. Ease of use. eReader was a clean download to my iPhone and the user interface is very self-explanatory. No "extra" programs to download to my computer.
2. Price. The price was right on this app…free!
3. Wide selection of ebooks in a variety of formats from Fictionwise.
4. Promise of application updates very soon. The makers of eReader have promised to update and improve this application before August. Some of the planned updates include the ability to read ebooks that are not from their site.
Yes, eReader is not perfect (no app is) but for now it suites my needs very well. Oh yeah, did I mention that eReader also remembers the page I’m on? A big plus! Scrolling through 100+ pages of text to try to find the chapter you last read is pain in the arse.
So that has been my excitement for the last few weeks. Am I going to write continuously about the greatness of my beloved iPhone? Maybe. Am I going to extol the virtues of my beloved at every chance I get? Of course! Will I write about anything else? I haven’t decided yet.
Seriously though, I have a long list of posts on a variety of subjects that I want to write about soon. But the only way you’ll know what those great posts are about is if you keep coming back!
